So yesterday was a pretty good day! I felt full all day, but I ate fairly healthy. The plan yesterday afternoon was to run 3 miles outside and then go grocery shopping so that I could cook a healthy meal at home. Sadly, my carefully crafted plot was derailed by a steady rain from 5 o'clock on.
I immediately thought about grabbing McDonald's and heading home to watch back-to-back episodes of NCIS. I decided against it, though, and went to Pei Wei for a healthier alternative. Let me tell you why I changed my mind. Monday evening, Ben and I were driving around College Station contemplating what we wanted to eat for dinner. I was tired and didn't want to cook, so we were out scoping the fast food joints up and down Texas Ave. McDonalds' siren song directed us into the drive-thru line and I was happily imagining myself downing chicken nuggests smothered in Bar-B-Que sauce when I saw them. Two chubby girls waddling inside the Golden Arches, wearing matching blue jeans that did nothing to disguise the muffin top each one was sporting. Dramatic as it sounds, I suddenly saw myself as one of the chubby girls, heading into Micky D's to grab one of many calorie-rich dinners and ignoring how fat my ass was getting. I literally grabbed Ben's arm and said, "We have to get out of here!" Dear man that he is, he exited the line without a fight, only asking what the hell was wrong with me. After a brief and slightly eccentric explanation, McAlister's got our business that evening, and I haven't been able to eat at McDonald's since. Visions of chubby girls dance in my head every time I think about going there.
I'm having coffee with a friend of mine after work, so on the list of things to do today at work is Google the amount of calories in a Mocha Frappe. I can't help getting them; they, like Taco Bell, have an iron-clad hold on me. I will just have to work-out extra hard today to burn those extra calories off!
Also on my list of things to do is create a menu for the next two weeks. I'm going to brave the grocery store tonight, list in hand, and hopefully come out with items that are nutritionally awesome and maybe taste good too. Tonight on the menu is baked chicken, steamed green beans with a low-fat butter sauce (there is such a thing, I promise), crescent rolls, and rosemary potatoes. We'll see after how much is left for lunch tomorrow once Ben is done. He is always starving after his shift, so I'm making extra chicken and green beans for him.
Here's some of the songs I worked out to last night. Maybe they will be good workout songs for you, my darling support group!
"Fighter" by Christina Aguilera
"Pretender" by the Foo Fighters
"Naturally" by Selena Gomez
"Call Me" by Blondie
"The Way You Make Me Feel" by Michael Jackson

ReplyDeletesounds like you had a good day yesterday! i have decided that the ten days before easter (i started today) i am going to eat at least three hundred calories less everyday and workout enough to burn three hundred calories at night. i am one of those people who has to seriously kick off my weight loss plans, and then ease into an easier regiment.
i have been listening to bluegrass music to workout. don't laugh. the banjo is really good to keep pace with.
